How does Herd work?
Herd is a safety app. It keeps you connected by letting you unlock your saved contacts on any borrowed smartphone, tablet, or browser.
When you don’t have your phone you can still text, call, email, and send location pins securely in the app. You can even live chat.
Why do I need Herd?
Phones get lost, broken, forgotten, and stolen. Batteries run out. Being cut off from your group is unsafe. Herd ensures you’re never out of touch.
I already borrow a phone when needed.
Right. But who can you dial from memory? No one knows numbers anymore. With Herd, reach anyone you want, anytime you need.
Who should have Herd?
Everyone with a smartphone — but definitely teens, college students, and older adults.
Do I need to download an app?
No, Herd is a web app that’s available on any browser. You don’t download or install anything on your own device or a borrowed device.
What’s left on a device I borrow?
Absolutely nothing. Every number, name, and message exists only in the encrypted, cloud-based web app. Nothing is left on a borrowed device.
How do I get started?
Sign up and add contact information for your friends and family. Use nicknames, first names, and initials. Next, scan your face or enter a passphrase so you can access your contacts on any device.
Then what?
Nothing — until you need Herd. Your contacts are fully encrypted and stored securely in the cloud.
How do I get my contacts when I need them?
- 01Borrow any smart device, open a browser, and type goherd.app or Herd safety app.
- 02Tap “Reach my people” and use your face or passphrase to unlock your contacts.
- 03Text, call, email, and pin your location with one touch. Chat if you want. Sign out.
